Is there any such thing as luck and if so, can you actually become luckier? In other words, can you make your own luck? These are indeed interesting questions. But here is another question for you to consider, before we move on. Take a look at the two statements below and decide with which of the two statements you most agree:-
Let me encourage you to really try to think about your own answer to this question before your read any further.
            a-Unfortunately,an individual's worth often passes unrecognized no matter s/he tries.

            b- In the long run people get the respect they deserve.

If you answered option (a), then you may have internalized what is known as an 'external locus of control' which means that you tend to attribute success in life to external circumstances and events. People with an external locus of control might say things like: 'it's about being in the right place at the right time' or 'it's not what you know but who you know'. If they don't actually say these things, they tend to buy into the attitude that luck is largely responsible for success.
On the other hand, if you answered option (b), then you may have what is known as an 'internal locus of control' which means that you tend to attribute success to internal factors and things that are within your sphere of control. People with an internal locus of control might say things like: 'you make your own luck'.
Interestingly, in Charles Burke's e-Book, Inside the Mind of Winners, he makes the statement that successful people tend to have the latter mind-set, That is, they tend to have the attitude that says: 'I can make my own luck'. In this book, are the success stories of people who have truly made it. People like Malcolm Harvey, Yanik Silver and Robert Sheinfeld to mention but a few.
